Hellbent video

I discovered this song and video back in 2001 around the time the world trade center went down. It is interperated by me as a powerful presentation of what could happen if our wildest dreams were exploited to the world and the effects it would have on our souls. I immediately fell in love with it. The clay animation style is no new art form however; before I saw it, the idea or story line that goes along with it had never fallen on my eyes. This is the music video to a song entitled "Hell bent" by the artist, Kenna. in further digging, I learned that this video had been originally an animated short by Mark Osborne called "more" with music from New Order. if one was to "youtube" this, one would find a plethora of versions of "Hell Bent" (the song) or "More" (the video). For instance, I've seen this video (More) played with a Radiohead song added to it and I've seen this song (Hell bent by Kenna) dubbed over an old Tim Burton animated short, "Vincent". Of all renditions of the song and video, I've never seen a better one than this. (which is the most popular). unfortunately I could not post the video on here because the embed code has been disabled but here's where you can find it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owS1coeoWEc

This Building

It is the first thing I see when I walk out of my house.  It may look just like an ugly white wall to at first but look closer.  Don't get closer and look at it but metaphorically look closer.  I see a canvas.  It is sort of a "put your own design here".  at first I thought about painting a big stupid mural on it.  Like I said before It is right outside my house.  this big wall. (It's a building by the way)  I actually got the idea to project movies on it and have a neighborhood movie night every so often.  Luckily projectors are becoming cheaper and cheaper each day.  A friend of mine actually has a tiny projector that you can hold in your hand.  We shot a cartoon on it one dark night and there it appeared, one ridiculous 12 foot screen showing a vivid short toon film that my friend made.  every now and then we get the urge to see a movie, "theater style" in the comfort of my own home.  (Actually it's a front porch).

Quality Leasing

I used to think it was fun, about 5 years ago to look through adds and spot out comercials that did not list a website. (that's just how messed up I am). It used to be very easy to spot them out until recent years when everyone (and their mom) got hip to the jive, so to speak, so I just stoped playing my little game. just today I was bored and decided to take my dusty skill out and venture the mags once again, as futile as it may seem to be by today's standards. It just so happens I was lucky enough to find this ad in Indianapolis Monthly Magazine.
It is an ad for Quality Leasing (autos). I had to sit there for about three or four minutes to verify the lack of a website listing and make sure I was just overlooking it, but, nope! I thought to myself that it would be odd to learn that this company does not have a website. Everyone (and their mom, mind you) has a website as I clearly stated before. So I trotted to "Oll Mac", as I like to call him, (yeah my computer is a guy and he has a name) and googled the it. sure enough the little "Google Maps" icon came first on the list and followed by this...http://www.thecityofindianapolis.com/quality-leasing/. sure it is a long u.r.l. and when I clicked on it, I noticed that it was just one page with a banner and a link to tomwood.com. So basically this was sort of a side project of Tom Wood Auto. (they sell cars)
Very strange it seems to me that a company would not list a u.r.l. with their ad. If they pay such and such amount of money to place it, it just seems viable to do so even if the website doesn't give you as much info as calling the company would. At least they could list the Tom Wood website right? I could be wrong. It's just an observation.

If you have not visited www.artbabble.org/ you should do so if you consider yourself a fan of art. This website is somewhat of a social media of the art world. the reason why I say "world" is because it is world wide with partnerships such as the guuggenheim, and Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, and it is based right here in Indianapolis at the IMA.

www.artbabble.org is like the facebook of art. It shows updates on news in the art world as well as showcases new and upcoming artists and installations. You also can become a member and build a profile for message boards and discussions within artbabble.

When I first heard of this website, I assumed that it was one of many art related websites. I thought that the art community was probably to saturated with stuff like this to even have an Indianapolis based org. break through the mold. However; I looked. In all my searches I could not find one website that even came close to touching the issues that are talked about in artbabble. I could be wrong but, it seems to me that www.artbabble.org is a one of a kind.

One piece of info I would like to present is my thoughts on this website. Pandora Radio is quickly becoming the top choice for music listeners over air radio by a landslide. This is to say assuming that it hasn't already exceeded it's sluggish predecessor. The reason I say "sluggish" has numerous folds, but mainly I use this term in this context...
Air radio (as I like to call it) has been sluggish, or even lazy to the point of clueless in it's awareness of what music the general population prefers. The major radio stations in my area (Indianapolis) have not changed there play list since most of their births. some of them have been around for twenty plus years. Any of the new music that these stations are playing (in my opinion of course) seem to be irrelevant to todays listeners.
What Pandora Radio lets you do is customize your station by selecting artists and bands that you like and playing music under suggestions of what you might like based on what you have entered.
One thing I believe could help this website expand is the option to play music videos automatically when the music plays (if the music has a video). so basically how it would work is that when a song comes up on the playlist, there would be a box that appears in the corner of the screen with the video for that song providing that the song has a video. there would also be an option of full screen viewing. Anyhoo; I have rambled for far to long so I leave you to your thoughts.
